blues meets bluegrass

Seagrass

Seagrass is an all original Tasmanian bluegrass band that have been together since 2006 to create a different sound. Their goal is to develop a sound that is uniquely Seagrass.

Their style of music is best described as a merge of acoustic blues and traditional bluegrass. The songs are original pieces that combine vocal harmonies with some very melodic (and tricky!) guitar/mandolin styles.

The bottleneck slide guitar, flatpicking guitar and hard driving 5 string banjo are all interwoven with bluegrass style mandolin playing to create sounds that are very unique.

Added to that is the sound of an acoustic bass with Mark Phillips in control. His wealth of experience in different bass styles shores up a solid sound to give Seagrass a sound completely different to mainstream music and styles.

The band consists of :

Mark Phillips (bass, vocals)

Tim Saunders (banjo, guitar, bottleneck guitar and vocals)

Rowlie Walker (mandolin, vocals)

Tim Saunders and Rowlie Walker are both avid song writers, constantly expanding their writing and arrangement styles.
